Week 16 What Is The Great Business Of Life?

20141214_114645THINKING….Because thought is spiritual and therefore creative.  To consciously control thought is therefore to control circumstances, conditions, environment and destiny.

This week in the Master Key we are logging KINDNESSES in our Master Mind Group. Kindnesses others do for me and kindnesses I do for others, seen or unseen.

The “aah ha” moment was when I realized I needed to be kind to myself. Until today (we started Monday)  I had not looked at the kindnesses I have been doing for myself.  How I treat myself.  Here is where my thoughts control so much more than I could ever have come to understand in the past.   Those words that we speak to ourselves. The good ones and the not so good ones.  Yes, that annoying self talk.

One of the seven laws of the mind is the law of substitution.  As I substitute negative thought for a fond memory or another pleasant thought, the negative is blotted out.  It takes hard work to get that self talk into submission, but I am making improvements each day.

I have created a stack of index cards that remind me of all the good things I have accomplished in my life. (one good thing for each card) Each day I add 3 new grateful statements to that stack of cards.  I want to be kind to myself and to others each day.  As Haanel, tells us “as we control our thoughts we can control our circumstances and conditions”.  I use my cards as “flash cards” each day to plant positive thoughts.

In the news the whole month of  January is  getting back in shape by losing weight…new resolution for the new year.  I don’t know about you but I really do not like to lose anything, my keys, my car in the huge parking lot or my belongings.  So why would I want to lose weight? Good question.  Perhaps the words need to be different to cause the real effect I expect to achieve.  Maybe think this over a little bit before I launch the objective.  What is the source of all evil?  Destructive thinking.

The business of life is to control thought and that brings about good circumstances and conditions.

I can be what I will to be

Week 15 Natures Greatest Miracle

Natures Greatest Miracle…….Due to a car accident our little Kayden arrived early….by two months.  A tiny baby with all of his toes, all of his fingers, all of what he needed to sustain life here.  Born 12/22/2014 he is natures miracle.  His weight now is 4lbs 5oz up from his birth rate of 3lbs 4oz.  He will be in the hospital a little longer but he is in an open crib and does not need oxygen.  In time, he will grow strong and become a good man.

We are all natures miracles, as Og Mandino, tells us in his 4th scroll.  We are all created a unique creature of nature.  I am not on this earth by chance and neither are you.  We were all born with special abilities, talents and we each have a distinct purpose.  Sometimes, I think we loose sight of where we started and how much we have accomplished.

Writing index cards of my accomplishments and flashing thru them each day brings to mind how many various adventures I have been on in the past.  And as I ply my abilities how much more I have yet to bring as gifts to this earth.

I am grateful for many blessings.  Each day writing out another 3 index cards with these grateful thoughts.  Have you ever made an accounting of all that you have accomplished?  I challenge you now to start to review the past and determine what will be your next great adventure.  What would you put down on index cards for your grateful thoughts?

If you will take my challenge, you will discover some amazing good things about yourself.  Just start writing and you will be rewarded with accomplishments you had forgotten and blessings you have left unnoticed.

You can be what you will to be

You are whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious and happy.

Week 14 Harmonious Mental Attitude

I like the way Haanel keeps the focus on our thoughts.  And how we must discipline our thoughts for our best welfare that brings health and harmonious conditions generally.

This past week for me has been a big challenge and thru these times I am reminded of the importance of my mental attitude.  I wish I could say that all the conflict this week has been from my world without, but I fully see that it is the world within creating this conflict.

But in recognizing this very fact, I now have the control to change my mental attitude to create a new reality.  I can relate to this quote by George Adams, “Learn to keep the door shut, keep out of my mind and out of my world, every element that seeks admittance with no definite helpful end in view.”

Our scroll four will establish our uniqueness in this world.  I am nature’s greatest miracle.  I have been given eyes to see and a mind to think and now I know a great secret of life for I perceive, at last, that all my problems, discouragements, and heartaches are, in truth, great opportunities in disguise.

Wishing each one of you, my readers, a very prosperous new year.

Week 13 Am I Doing My Best

On Christmas Day, we decided to hang out and watch movies.  The movie Rudy is based on a true story, a blue collar kid whose Father worships Notre Dame football but would never dare to dream any of his sons would be a part of the team. This is a film that looks back on life, and says the battle was its own reward, not the glory.  Rudy overcomes incredible obstacles to become a football player and succeed in life.

What impressed me was Rudy’s clear goals.  He pictured it, he lived it in his mind for years before it became a reality for him.  He demonstrated his willingness to charge forward in spite of all the set backs and people around him telling him to quit.

On the practice field he would get up each time one of the huge players would knock him down. (he was 5′ nothing in height)  He was beat up and worn out but still got up.  That’s what I call persistence.  He was so determined to succeed nothing else mattered to him.  Defeat was not in his DNA.  Several times in the movie he would ask, “am I doing my best?”  Each obstacle that he faced, was a mere detour to his goal and challenged him to be better and work harder.

Another impressive part of the movie was the people that were around him that respected what he wanted to accomplish.  He had gained great respect from the other players on the practice field.  He practiced for 2 long years and had not played in one game.  His teammates recognized his determination and rallied around him in his Senior year at Notre Dame.  So how long did Rudy persist?

Persistence is one of the secrets to success.  We can all learn from Rudy about what it takes to persist towards a goal.

As we anticipate the new year ahead, I would challenge each one of us to ask ourselves “am I doing my best?”  Do I encourage others with love in my heart?  Let’s make each day the best day of our lives throughout 2015.  Happy New Year to each of you reading this post.

“I can be what I will to be” and so can you….

Week 12 Three Essential Steps To Knowledge

“Knowledge does not apply itself, we as individuals must make the application and the application consists in fertilizing the thought with a living purpose.”  Haanel writes the way to move forward in our lives of purpose is first, have the knowledge of our power, then the courage to dare and finally, the faith to do it.  Our purpose must be very clear, sharp and definite.  No wavering of ideas or chaotic combinations.  Our creative power is infinite and unlimited.  Our only independence is found to be, a practical working knowledge of the creative power of thought.

The one exercise that I find to be the most effective and perhaps at the same time the most difficult is the time we sit for 30 min.  At first it seemed easy to sit quietly and just listen.  Now I find that distracting thoughts try to carry me away to “critical land”.  When these thoughts come into my mind I now realize I must stop the progression of them.  The only way I have found is to overlay the critical thoughts with good thoughts filled with love.  There is no getting away from the law of love.  It is the feeling of love that imparts vitality to thought.  Thought impregnated with love becomes invincible.

This is one of the Seven laws of the Mind.  The law of relaxation.  This law states mental effort defeats itself exactly the opposite of physical effort.  A relaxed, calm state of mind, is the doorway to progress mentally.  Relaxation of thought is the only access to Infinite Intelligence. It is in the silence that we get into touch with the Omnipotent power of the subconscious mind from which all power is evolved.  Once again it is our ability to think, to know our power then the faith to move forward.

I can be what I will to be.
