MKE Week 15 How Words Express Our Thoughts That Lead To Action

Haanel 15:13-14

“Thought may lead to action of any kind, but whatever the action, it is simply the thought attempting to express itself in visible form.  It is evident that if we wish desirable conditions, we can afford to entertain only desirable thoughts.”

“If we wish to express abundance in our lives, we can afford to think abundance only, and as words are only thoughts taking form, we must be especially careful to use nothing but constructive and harmonious language, which when finally crystallized into objective forms, will prove to our advantage.”

Can we entertain only desirable thoughts all the time?  Constructive words that will lead to harmonious language?  How would we begin to make changes to achieve such an advantage?

One of the seven laws of the mind is the Law of Substitution.   We cannot think about 2 things at the same time.  If a negative thought enters your mind, think about any fond memory or other pleasant thought.  Jesus said, “Resist not evil” meaning turn from it and think about something else instead.

This one law of the mind has made an amazing difference in my life.  I watch carefully what I say to others and especially myself.  It takes practice on my part to first recognize what I am saying and then carefully reframe the thought into positive language.

As a result of making some progress in this area of my life, I have found greater peace and harmony.  The effort is paying off in the area of relationships.  It is important for me to love myself thru the process as it is difficult to make this change that has been around for many years.

Learning to entertain only desirable thoughts has many advantages.  I do enjoy the outcome of choosing wisely what I will say and it does show up in my actions to others.

  1. Amen! It’s the awareness first… and then the hard mental work of focusing on your new found awareness in order to make the change. I think I am going to have to carry something or wrap a string on my finger to make sure I remember to focus on something. Too many times I get home after the day and go daaaarn… I forgot to look for kindness today!??? Grateful for your guidance and leadership Joan.
