MKE Week 1 Do You Know The Truth About Habits?

We have just begun a journey into new habits.  The Master Key Experience has commenced and will continue for 6 months.  We begin with the class readings, starting with Og Mandino’s The Greatest Salesman in the World.

In Scroll 1 we proceed with learning about success.  Og states ” the only difference between those who have failed and those who have succeeded lies in the difference of their habits. Good habits are the key to success.  Bad habits are the unlocked door to failure.  The First Law I obey, which precedes all others is I form good habits and become their slave. If I must be a slave to habit let me be a slave to good habits.  My bad habits must be destroyed and the new ground prepared for good seed.

Here is my challenge, I want to move from a habit of negative thought.  This is the habit I observed most recently.  I walk around saying to myself “I just don’t know what to do”.  It sounds crazy when I write it out for you. Yes, I do this to myself.

First, let’s say just observing this habit is a big thing.  And it is really a big thing for me.  So now I catch myself with the new habit of saying in my head.  “I know what to do and I am doing it now”.  The interesting thing that I have noticed is that I may not know what to do at that moment, but when I tell myself “I know what to do” the answer comes to me right away.

The truth about habits is they aren’t always noticeable.  It takes being observant and then a desire to change.  Then it takes work to replace them with a new habit.

It is so exciting to see the results of being, observant of myself and working on a new habit to replace the old habit that I would like to challenge you to do some observing of yourself. Have a check-up of your habits.  Notice if there are some habits you would like to change.  It’s worth the effort.
