Week 15 Power In Concentration

 

Haanel so nicely puts things into perspective with his writings. “Thought may lead to action of any kind, but whatever the action, it is simply the thought attempting to express itself in visible form. It is evident that if we wish desirable conditions, we can entertain only desirable thoughts.”

Words are thoughts and are an invisible and invincible power which will objectify in the form they are given. The beauty of the word consists in the beauty of the thought: the power of the word consists in the power of the thought, and the power of the thought consists in its vitality. He who recognizes and understands the creative power of thought becomes a master of his destiny.

How to develop this power of thought? Develop insight of the world within in the “silence“, by concentration. Insight enables us to plan to advantage and turn our thought and attention in the right direction.

I have found that as I practice the Silence (the disapline of setting time aside each day) and earnestly seek, I have a new peace, a greater understanding of thoughts that are desirable.
My life is a positive influence for good.

Week 13 A Healthy Idea

 

“We will get exactly what we give but shall have to give it first. It will then return to us many fold, and the giving is simply a mental process, because thoughts are causes and conditions are effects: therefore in giving thoughts of courage, inspiration, health or help of any kind we are setting causes in motion which will bring about their effect.” Haanel

Today I would like to encourage you, inspire you, set in motion a mental process. Bringing you healthy ideas.

This is a small piece of information that recently came across my desk regarding starches.

“The secret of unlocking resistant starches is to cool them down. Just pop them into the refrigerator cool to around 40 degrees after you cook them. The sudden temperature drop “shifts” the starch’s cellular structure from regular to resistant. And best of all, this trick works for all your favorite starchy dishes, including things like potatoes and pasta. Cook a delicious pot of pasta and pop it in the refrigerator for about an hour. Not only does it go great with a fresh salad, it doesn’t give you any of that after-pasta “sluggishness” and it’s excellent for your heart health. So give this “super-starch” trick a shot, it couldn’t be easier and you can’t beat the benefits. Don’t like cold pasta? You can always reheat the pasta after you cool it. According to Medical Daily cooking, cooling, then reheating the pasta actually leads to many of the same health benefits as cold pasta. So don’t be afraid to warm up those resistant starches just make sure it’s been in the refrigerator for at least an hour before you do.” Dr. Bereliani

Week 3 Control Our Thoughts

 

“Harmony in the world within means the ability to control our thoughts, and to determine for ourselves how any experience is to affect us.” A quote from the Master Keys class that I am now taking.

As we continue with our studies, I am keenly aware of the need to control my thoughts. When I am in an emotional state, upset because life has been unkind or unfair, I find it difficult to turn off the thoughts that consume me. I find those thoughts that keep me agitated not only effect me emotionally but physically too.

A couple of years ago right at Christmas time I experienced chest pains. We all know that is not a good thing. For me it was an early warning to get myself pulled back together and pay attention to what my body needs for better health. I was offered a class from the Hospital to better care for myself, and there it was….Meditation and exercise. Meditation, or controlling our thoughts was a large part of the Hospital class.

In the Master Key class we are learning skills to help us understand the importance of needing control to gain harmony of the world within. I plan to pay close attention in class and make the changes that will bring me into a peaceful place. To put into practice the exercises I am learning.

I highly recommend a book that I have read “The Untethered Soul: The Journey Beyond Yourself” by Michael A Singer. In his book Michael takes you on a journey through the chapters, to show you there will be no more confusion, no more lack of empowerment and no more blaming others. You have the ability to find yourself and you have the ability to free yourself. You will know exactly what must be done, if you so choose.

MKE Week 28 How Do You Talk To Yourself?

 

What you say to yourself in tough times and in good times is important.  Your self talk has a big effect on your life. Would you like to see some big changes in your overall attitude?  Do you think you are a positive person or do you spend time talking negative about yourself?  Let’s spend a few minutes looking at a simple process to become aware and change some of our thinking.2015-03-13_1341 Your thinking effects everything.

Start by observing yourself.  I recommend the 7 day mental diet as a good place to start to observe your own thinking.  James Allen, in his book, As A Man Thinketh says “The mind is the master weaver, both of the inner garment of character and the outer garment of circumstance”.  Your thoughts have the power to determine how you see yourself, other people, and the world.

From my own personal experience, I can say, for years my thinking was negative about myself and others.  It has taken great effort for me to work on my own thinking.  The 7 day mental diet was a huge challenge to me.  As several of us worked together to help each other, like a team sport, we worked to overcome the negative self talk and thinking.  Allen says “As the physically weak man can make himself strong by careful and patient training, so the man of weak thoughts can make them strong by exercising himself in right thinking”.

I continue to challenge myself to right thinking.  Awareness is the key to making the changes needed for peace of mind and positive thinking.

Week 25 The Advantages Of Meditation

From the first day in the Master Key adventure I began to meditate.

For a week I worked to secure full control of my physical being.  My favorite place to get quiet is in nature, so I chose the back porch. That proved to be somewhat of a challenge on the very cold days of winter but the sunshine made it bearable and snuggled up under a warm blanket made it just right.  There on the porch, I would sit for 30 minutes.

The second week I was to inhibit all thought.  This gave me control over all thoughts of care, worry and fear, and enables me to entertain only the kind of thoughts I desire.  For me this started out slowly as there were many thoughts and I worked at clearing the mind every few minutes.  As the week progressed, I did gain control enough to see improvement.  Each week gave me more confidence that meditation would work as I persisted.

I am now in week 25 of this process and I can say with a certainty that meditation is a wonderful place of peace and happiness.  I have experienced reduced stress, a greater self awareness, and I have an increase of compassion for those around me.

My family experiences the “new me”.  My friends look at me and seem to be thinking, “what’s changed”?

There have been other changes that I have noticed;  increased focus and mindfulness of all that is around me.  It’s like seeing everything in 3D for the first time.
